Legislature Seeks Input on Education Funding

Legislature Seeks Input on Education Funding
Posted on 08/10/2017
Education FundingLast year Converse County School District #1 faced some painful budget cuts due to loss of student enrollment and additional cuts imposed by the legislature to try to counter a state revenue deficit for education funding. The legislature has hired a Colorado consulting firm to help examine the current funding model and statutory requirements for school districts and make recommendations to the Select Committee on School Finance Recalibration.

Part of the consultants' work is to gather input from interested educators, parents, and patrons from across the state. The co-chairs of the recalibration committee have issued an invitation to a series of practitioner panels to be held at four locations around the state.

Two different practitioner panels will be convened at each location. One panel to discuss the impact of the state’s educational program and one to discuss the current funding model. The two sessions will run concurrently from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A short break midway through each session will allow participants to switch between sessions. Please see dates below.
