This is the image for the news article titled December 2016 Board HighlightsThe Converse County School District school board convened Tuesday evening with a new slate of board members. Joining the board after the election are Jay Butler, Tom Holt, and Jennifer Rinn. The district wishes to thank outgoing members Linda Cole, Lee Igo and Dick Lisco for their years of service to the Converse County School District community.

The backdrop for the board was provided by the art students at Douglas Middle School. Emily Jensen's students created a Winter Wonderland of Chistmas trees, snowmen and animals. Other middle school art adorned the board room as well.

The board elected new officers for the upcoming year and set their meeting calendar for the second Tuesday of each month. Brad Reese will lead the board as the new chairman, and Jim Bolinger will serve as vice-chairman. The treasurer position will be filled by Brandon Gilbreath, and Mark Horr was chosen to be the new clerk.

Karl Kosters recognized by the School Board.The board honored the spotlight employee, Carl Kosters, a fifth-year rural school teacher at Moss Agate, for his outstanding work serving his students. Principal Wes Gamble noted that Carl is a problem solver, innovator, and a dynamic member of the teaching team. Carl is known for this empathy and great teacher instincts.

Earthorne ranches donate beef to Nutrition Services program.Director of Nutrition Services Monty Gilbreath publicly thanked Eathorne Ranches, who have been in the cattle business for 72 years, for generously donating locally-raised beef to the food service program. Kids will enjoy two January menus that feature this beef as part of the "Farm to School" program.

The board also heard from the district's auditor who shared a clean audit result with no findings of concern to report. In other business the board discussed some policy revisions, approved two requests for proposals, and accepted the administrative personnel recommendations.
