No Child Left Behind Results for CCSD #1 Print
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) results for the state assessment Proficiency Assessments for Wyoming Students (PAWS) have been announced.  All students in grades 3-8 and 11 are required to take the PAWS or PAWS-ALT unless officially exempted.  Douglas Primary School (paired with Douglas Intermediate School), Douglas Intermediate School, and Douglas Middle School did not meet AYP in the Language Arts Content Area in Students with Disabilities subgroup for two consecutive years.  Consequently, all three schools have been identified as “Year One School Improvement” status by the Wyoming Department of Education. If you have any questions regarding Public School Choice, please contact school personnel immediately.
Under No Child Left Behind, each state sets AYP goals for the percent of students that must be proficient in reading, writing, and mathematics.  By 2014, the AYP goal is that 100% of students will be proficient in language arts (reading and writing) and math.  In order to make AYP, each of the following subgroups of students must meet the AYP goals: ethnicity, economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, and students with limited English language proficiency.

For 2009, Wyoming’s AYP goals for the percent of students that must score proficient or above were as follows:

Grade Levels Language Arts Mathematics
Elementary (3-6)
53.6% 49.2%
Middle School (7-8) 56.3% 50.2%
High School (11)
65.6%
57.2%

Also, to make AYP, at least 95% of students must take the PAWS test and our graduation rate must be at least 80%.  With the 2009-10 school year quickly approaching, please know that district personnel will be extending many efforts and resources that will support improvement in noted AYP areas.  For more information about AYP and No Child Left Behind, please visit http://www.k12.wy.us or http://converse1schools.org.
